The paper industry to promote a circulation economic model

Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, General Secretary of VCCI and Vice Chairman of VBCSD spoke at the Conference

To expand the circulation economic model for businesses and improve their competitiveness towards sustainable development of the economy, Vietnam Paper and Pulp Association with the US Business Council for Sustainable Development (US BCSD), Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has made objective and informative reviews and the accuracy of recovered paper, a kind of secondary material which is suitable for the circulation economy.

On April 17, at the Association Office, Vietnam Pulp and Paper Association and Mr. Bob Zak, United States Business Council for Sustainable Development (US BCSD), Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) had a working session on building a database of buyers / sellers as well as support units in the field of paper purchasing and technical support for recycling / reusing paper industries, helping to form the official secondary material market in Vietnam in the following years.

Dr. Dang Van Son, representative of Vietnam Paper and Pulp Association, said that the paper industry is essentially a circulation economy. The starting point of paper is from wood (plantation and FSC certification), then production of paper, paper is recovered and recycled. The recycling process can happen many times with products that are suitable for the purpose of use and market demand. Recycling paper not only saves society, but also helps businesses have stable raw materials ...

Currently, the Association has communication programs to change perceptions and conceptions of secondary raw materials, as well as propose measures to improve the rate of recovered paper, reuse paper ... Association also highly appreciated the Project "Building secondary materials market" of the US Council for Sustainable Development (US BCSD), Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and totally supported project programs through providing information, data and reviews on paper recycling.

Dr. Dang Van Son said that in order to effectively implement the circulation economy, there should be a close coordination between ministries and branches; Improve the system of standards and standards; Develop a set of regulations to classify waste at source as many countries are applying (for example, if not sorting garbage will not collect or environmental companies need to apply waste classification before burial, treatment ... ); Build a purchasing system to collect secondary materials directly from users or only through a number of key clues, avoiding the situation that secondary materials have to go through many intermediaries, leading to high prices…

“The circulation economy will open up market opportunities worth at least $ 4.5 trillion for businesses, creating hundreds of millions of new jobs, helping businesses reduce the risks of rare materials and volatility in resource prices as well as creating conditions to welcome policies and orientation of enterprises according to the green and sustainable growth strategy of the country ”- Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, General Secretary of VCCI and Vice Chairman of VBCSD.
