Exports of paper and paper products to China and the Philippines rose sharply

The paper industry in general and packaging paper in particular play important roles in many manufacturing activities. Despite the decline in turnover in 09/2018, the export of paper and paper products changed positively in 10/2018.

Export turnover of paper in 10/2018 reached 72.92 million USD

A wide range of items from paper, including packaging paper, have made a positive change in 10/2018 although the export turnover of this industry declined in 09/2018.

According to the General Department of Customs, in 10/2018, Vietnam's paper export turnover reached $ 72.92 million, up 3.5% compared to 09/2018. This leads to an increase in the export turnover of paper and paper products in the first 10 months of 2018 to $ 823.05 million, up 35.7% over the same period in 2017.

It is noteworthy that the Chinese and the Philippines markets have witnessed a sharp increase in imports of paper products from Vietnam. Specifically, China was the market with a remarkable growth rate, accounting for 25.5% of the total, reaching $ 210.14 million, up 2.4 times (an increase of 136.17%). Particularly, in 10/2018, it was $ 12.64 million, decreased by 6.84% compared with September 2018 and decreased by 74.09% compared to October 2017.

US ranked second with $ 91.61 million, up 20.93% over the same period. In 10/2018, it reached $ 6.91 million, down 8.52% compared to 09/2018, but up 48, 61% compared to October 2017. In addition, in the first 10 months of 2018, the export turnover reached over US $ 10 million, accounting for 66.67%.

Overall, export turnover of paper and paper products to the market in the first 10 months of the year showed a high growth rate, accounting for 88.89%. In addition to the Chinese market, exports to the Philippines also increased strongly. Although there was only 22.6 million, it increased 2.3 times (up 125.24%) over the same period in 2017. However, exports of paper and paper products from Vietnam to the German market have declined sharply. Particularly, in October, it decreased by 55.01% compared to 09/2018.
